spacewhistler: (personal)
A short fact about myself
Is that I don’t like animals.
Those furry little creatures
I really don’t consider as pals,
Are not as innocent
as everyone thinks.
They’re sly, they’re mad,
Them and I don’t really mix.

I think it started one day when
I was running an errand and a dog bit me on the leg.
I ran home crying to my mother
It didn’t really hurt, but it brought me down to my knees to beg,
I said, “God, please let me live,
I’ll leave those animals alone I swear.”
And I did.
I think it’s only fair.

Ever since then,
I never dared to touch any animal again.

But I was born in an animal-loving family.
We had dogs and a few cats.
I don’t like them around the house,
So they were leashed and caged, because they’d probably pee on our mats.

How crazy are dogs?
They’d jump on you when you come home,
They’d bark at no one, for no reason at all,
They’d even tear at the new couch’s foam.
They’re a mess.
And so I liked them less.

How insane are cats?
They’d jump on your lap while you’re eating,
They’d pee and poop wherever they please,
When you have food in your hands, they’ll keep staring.
They’re cute when they’re kittens,
But to touch them, I had to don mittens.

But one day I felt so lonely.
I have been having a terrible day.
The cat slowly walked up to me,
Its eyes were shining, as if asking, “If I may?”
I raised an eyebrow,
Then it bumped its nose on my toes,
I smiled,
At least someone cares I’m at the lowest of lows.
The dog then jumped on me,
And surprisingly, I didn’t mind,
Because its soft eyes held mine,
And they were nothing but kind.

The next day, I found them both beside me,
And I cried because neither were breathing.

Sometimes the best companions are not people like us.
Maybe they take in a different form, like dogs and cats.
