"Fragile"

He holds her like
she’s bound to break any minute.
He kisses her like
she’s going to disappear in a blink of an eye.
He touches her like
there’s always a time limit.
He loves her like
she’s about to die.

Note:
This poem is inspired by a fanfiction which really captured my heart and then shattered it into microscopic pieces. It’s romantic but really quite tragic.

"Kites"

Look at the kites
Thin and frail, still flying
Over people, reaching new heights
If they fall, pull them up and keep trying.

The design is too fancy
But it’s the foundation that matters
What would you do with a kite decorated by flowers,
If with a slight gust of wind it shatters?

Note:
This was written at the time when I was on the lowest of lows and I was feeling quite down because I feel like everything around me is out of my control. It’s quite silly and shallow but I wanted to feel slightly stronger than I was at that moment.

"Six Feet Under"

She saw them all.

Her parents, first of all, were sporting faux tears and red noses, in front, leading the long line. They were locked in a tight embrace, a hypocrisy she has always been familiar with. They were also whispering words of love like they have never shouted at each other till their throats bled just a few days ago.

Her so-called friends were patting each other’s backs, telling their own stories of her which were pretty much just a load of bullshit. They sung her praises and called her beautiful, as if they have never called her foul names behind her back last week.

Her relatives who never even got to know her shed tears and told anecdotes that she was pretty sure were made up on the spot.

She saw them all. After this, they’d go back to their perfect little lives and forget all about her. That’s what they’d do, when they know she’s already six feet under.

"Monster"

He gave up his soul a long time ago to a man he didn’t even recognize. For fortune, for fame, and everything good in between. But he didn’t want this life anymore; a life lived in darkness and isolation, a life with pure hatred and nothing with love.

He searched hard for him, he really did. He searched the dark alleys, the abandoned buildings. He cried, he fought till he bled, he did everything to make him appear again but to no avail.

He went back to his grandiose penthouse and slumped heavily on the pristine leather couch which barely made a dent in his fully loaded bank account. He held his head in both hands as he contemplated how he could give up everything good in his life for a life of endless luxury?

He paced back and forth across his huge living room and as he passed the mirror he has always loved, he saw his reflection grinning like a maniac. The monster was in him all along and it would stay with him forever.

"Epilogue"

This is the untold story of fairytales.
And what happened after the ‘happily ever afters’
The princesses have left the castles,
The princes have peeled all of their masks.
The animals have turned back to their true forms.
The kiss ended.
And life is now devoid of its magic.
